Meet Deets
Meet #49   |   26/04/14   |   Hosted by The Hub
We decamped (or camped-up) to the Whisky Festival at The Hub in Edinburgh, where we all got together to taste a tasty looking Laphroaig, version #4 in the Elements series.
Smells
Pop this under yo schnozzer and it's immediately festival time, one where you hang around by the sea, breathe in the coastal air, have a BBQ with some seagulls and get beaten to death by a peat fire! The funeral will be overwhelming, hosted on the mossy edge of a boggy pool and featuring a rubber coffin, (balsamic) vinegar, raisins and ham or bacon as catering with some lava toffee for the final farewell.
Tastes
This honey-coloured dram had a good flavour whilst being raw with the instincts of a sexual predator. Sweeter than expected, rich and toffee-y with stewed fruits (suprising some of us) and was quite peppery. Fried cumin continued that theme yet salt, lemon and maple syrup made things seem a bit more normal, despite some describing it as 'very different'. A drop of water had a massive mellowing effect with less acridness but with or without water, this wasn't quite the beast we were expecting. NB Check out our review of the Elements Lp1 by way of comparison.

We popped upstairs for a bit of tasting privacy.
Finish & Comments
Annoying wedding chat, peppery and long. NB Lucy thought mirrors were other rooms!
