Meet #52 | 12/07/14 | Hosted by Shelley
Shelley hosted us in her new pad, where she put on a 3 region blind tasting, where I think we all spectacularly failed to identify what we were drinking.
Initially a soft nose of honey and heather, with touches of vanilla, stewed apples topped with custard (sherried). But after a few more sniffs it appeared to conjure deeper, more sentimental, notes of girl's plastic toys (‘My little Pony’ to be exact), old lady perfume (controversially 43+ years), the Chinese fan on Shelley’s wall, Windolene and for those amongst us who obviously had a more rebellious youth – a tube of glue refilled with white wine!
A somewhat rollercoaster journey. Spicy to start with curry, pepper and liquorice blended with outdoorsy hay and meadows, coated in brown sugar and furniture resin. A pinch of Italy emerged with basil and the aftertaste of pizza (!?!)
A foil-wrapped triple whammy blind tasting..
Finish & Comments
Salty, grassy and dry. Short. A tangy after taste of tannin and liquorice.
