For info   Reviews on sshhh! aim to detail the flavours, feelings and quality of each dram, wrapped up in as little nonsense as possible (!). Each whisky is tried on its own and given time to speak out, even if they often talk gibberish.

Distillery profile   Silent for: 28 years   |   Existed for: 224 years   |   Type: malt
Littlemill was situated near the Lowland/Highland whisky border, but due to its triple distillation technique, it's more often classed as a Lowlander. It was possibly the oldest distillery in Scotland, which a history going back to ~1750. - see Malt Madness - Littlemill for a detailed profile.

Tastes & Smells
A very chemical fruitiness on the nose, and I didn't say any more than that at the time, so neither will I now. An intense fruity explosion in the mouth, almost like a fruity grain whisky, finally becoming strawberry cream hard sweets. Pear XXX on the finish (I presume I meant 'really extreme pear', bordering on pornographic), but dies to a medium length whilst souring.

Worth shouting about?
I'd had a couple of Littlemills before, but I couldn't recall what I'd thought of them when I tasted this. Therefore, I was going in blind, perhaps the best way to go, and this turned out to be my favourite Littlemill yet. Quite different to the others, and little specific flavours seem to have come out in my review but the taste just had a really intense fruity bang that pleased me, like fruit squash and fruit candy pretty distinct.

Summary & Ramblings
The best Littlemill I've had, but I hear this was quite a classic example, without being up with the very best. A distillery I'll keep my eye on for a few more samples if possible, I reckon. Definitely needed more on the nose and finish to really be a true all-rounder, but it won in the taste and that's what really matters.

tldr;
A fruity explosion in the mouth, reminiscent of strawberry hard candy. Pretty distinct (XXX pear on the finish!) but had areas for improvement I'd like to try a few more and see if those areas can't be improved by another dram or two.
