Tastes & Smells
This had a surprisingly weak smell, even when you poked your schnozzle right into its midst. What was there was pleasant enough, just hard to find - old wood and sweet caramel, but I was struggling for more (admittedly, I didn't have much time on this dram, hence the short review). It's slightly clichd, but this was very much in the popcorn camp, and more specifically Corn Pops cereal. It was nicely sweet, and tasted just like strawberry fruit drops. The sweet end moved towards a fun spiciness (zingy), best described by a bag of Tangfastics.
Any good?
This was really decent, although I didn't have enough time to properly evaluate it. I did get a second taste to cement my scoring for it, but would need a bit longer to give a solid recommendation. It had a nice sweet, creaminess and the spice was more zing than heat - negating a common issue with grain whiskies (in my opinion).
Reminiscent of...
Due to the zing, and the agreeable nature of the dram, this felt much like a good joke. It had a slight uneasiness towards the end, perhaps reflecting the one person who doesn't get it.

In summary:
My first Girvan, and the popcorn and sweet fruitiness were very appealing. With zing rather than spice, I'd happily return to this one - although not cheap, it was decent.
